Construction (The Complete Package)
One question we get asked often is whether our Wall Beds are 'murphy beds'? Designed and patented by William Murphy,in the early 1900's , the "murphy bed" consisted of a simple frame and spring system inside a closet. The name 'murphy bed' is now a generic name which covers a variety of wall beds.
Our Wall Beds differ from the original in design, appearance, hardware and method of operation. Because we want our customers to be more than satisfied, we build to the highest quality standards with the strongest mattress foundation on the market. Below, we show you how our Wall Beds are constructed and how they compare to conventional Murphy Beds.
Our complete Wall Bed package is shipped in cartons, ready for assembly.
Our bed assemblies come complete with a sleek, smooth working spring lift system and our unique foundation frame, constructed of solid birch cross members and plywood rails.
Our powerful lift mechanism has 18 heavy duty coil springs. You can vary the number of springs to control the lift and adjust for your mattress weight. A steel cover fits over the moving parts for safety and is completely out of sight, below mattress height. Made of rugged 1/8" steel, it has a Lifetime Warranty.
The foundation parts are glued and screwed together - methods used by the best furniture manufacturers. It is the most solid foundation in the industry, capable of supporting over 1000 lbs. Liners are fastened over the cross members to create an even, comfortable surface for your mattress - no lumpy bars to mar your sleep! The bed is totally enclosed by a deep 18" cabinet to allow for extra bedding.
The head of the bed has a comfortable inclined backrest with a top ledge for glasses etc.
Concealed metal legs rotate to support the foot of the bed. Instantly your space is converted to a bedroom, complete with a comfortable bed, made and ready to use!
The cabinet assembly is securely and independently mounted to the wall - not the floor as in some murphy beds. This means that when you move out, the bed comes with you, without leaving behind costly damage to the floor.
Assembly of our Complete Wall Bed kits is easy, just using a power drill for screws, as all parts are pre-drilled and the kit comes with easy to follow instructions.
Our beds are complemented by an optional system of Side Cabinets.
Check our finished dimensions of both the vertical and horizontal configurations to determine which bed will best suit your room.
